The brief

A monumental nativity scene is the most-seen installation of the year in a town or a shopping centre, and the one that takes the most punishment: six weeks outdoors, people touching it and one family photo after another. And there is no extension: on 1 December it is up or it is not.

How we did it

01 · Life size and presence

The figures are designed life size with a strong gesture, because in the street they are seen from a distance and at night: what reads is the silhouette and the pose, not fine detail.

02 · Material for the street

Reinforced high-density polystyrene sealed for outdoor use, with internal reinforcement where the figure rests and where people will lean in.

03 · Installation and removal

Transport, installation, levelling and removal in January. Coordinated with the venue team and the site permits.

The result

Frequently asked questions

When should a monumental nativity scene be ordered?

In August or September for December. Large figures take 30 to 40 working days to build, and then come painting, transport and installation.

Can the set be expanded year after year?

Yes, and it is the usual route with town councils: you start with the core and add figures each season, keeping the same language.
